Top 10 Most pure Aang moments.

*PLEASE never  Appa away from this boy ever again*

“do you think we could have been friends?”

what a talented kid!

*mastering his fourth element*

“and now we’re friends”

“can I have some onion and banana juice, please?”

I only recently watched AtLA, but one thing that got me is how much platonic tension Zuko has with the Gaang when he decides to join them. Like when Toph latches onto him in Ember Island he blushes furiously; when Aang compliments him in the Sun Warrior temple he grins so shyly etc. Basically I'm saying he'd melt at the slightest sign of someone wanting to be friends with him and it's beautiful

nothing-more-than-hot-leaf-juice:

image

the gaang after Zuko risked his life to hold of Azula in order to protect them: “To Zuko! Sure are glad he’s switched sides and is no longer trying to kill us!

Zuko: *makes this adorable face*

image

Zuko: ‘what is this??? appreciation??? nice? nice feeling! Is this friendship? Did I do the friendship right???!’

image

Zuko: ‘oh no, she’s going to fucking kill me. This is how I die. I knew I shouldn’t have done the whole field trip thing. She still hates me. I still suck. I’m beyond forgiveness despite what she said–

Katara: *hugs*

Zuko: oh wait, I’m okay, I did it, this is friendship, I’m okay

image

Zuko: “I’m garbage. I’m worthless. I’m a human garbage dumpster and this play understands that. They have translated the Essence™ of my terribleness through bad theater and I deserve it”

Toph: “your uncle talked nonstop about you when I met him because he loves you

Zuko, being used to his entire existence being actively rejected: “oh sorry”

Toph, who vibed with this anxious, awkward mess of a human space heater the minute Appa started licking him: “Listen here you little shit, you better pick that self esteem up or so help me”

image

Toph: excuse me, this is MY emotional support firebender

Zuko, still not used to the idea that people genuinely want to be around him for his personality: ‘!?!?!?????’

image

Zuko: *automatically assumes that group hugs are for People Who Aren’t Him and doesn’t even attempt to engage*

image

The gaang: “Come on Zuko, being part of the group means being part of group hugs” *Suki and Toph open up their arms to him*

Zuko: *awkwardly trudges over and has no idea what to do* (was this his first ever group hug? in his life? am I sad now? the answer is yes.)

I wanted to start a new chain post to get to know more people. So tell me one book from your childhood that you still love now, one book that is on your reading list, and the book that you’ve read most recently. Mine are The Percy Jackson and the Olympians series, Weapon by Lynette Noni, and Supernova by Marissa Meyer.

@inky-duchess @writing-in-the-grave @writersblockbecomesunblocked

Thanks @musical-stan-first-human-later!

Childhood Book: Harry Potter. I know J.K Rowling is transphobic and I DO NOT support that, but I still have so much nostalgia for those books. I grew up with them. And also I would still die for Hermione Granger.

Reading List: More classics in general like Jane Eyre and Pride and Prejudice!

Most Recent Read: I’m still reading King of Scars and it’s taking forever because it only gets really good after like 11 chapters in my opinion.

Tagging: @dm-lancaster @ihavenoimaginationfornames @imawake-butatwhatcost @colorfulregret-21 @six-fragile-dreams @calpicola. Sorry if you’ve already been tagged! No obligation!

Thanks @theatergirl06!! Also thanks to @silverpetals97 for tagging me!!

Childhood book: The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane. It’s not super well known, but it’s a beautiful book, and I read it with my mom and sister in 4th grade and it’s still one of my favorite childhood memories. Love love love love. Definitely read if you have not.

Reading List: Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro, on my dad’s recommendation, and the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas on my friends’ recommendation.

Most Recently Read: I just finished The Toll by Neal Shusterman, and I’m currently reading The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes by Suzanne Collins.

Tagging: @timetoriseabove @askedencrowleyfellandfam @unchartedraider @the10amongstthese3s @frogs-in-clogs @arrowfromorion @gaytheism-bitch Have fun y’all!!

@fablemoon23 @top-crowley-central @demonkittyarts @crazyrose912 any books guys?

Childhood books: Warrior Series by Erin Hunter was one of my favorites. I’ve read way to many books. Also Bruce Coville books were really good.

Reading list: Too many books. Mostly Regency era books, like Jane Eyre and Sense and Sensibility.

Most recently read: I’m rereading the Tiger’s Curse series by Colleen Houck, because there is a new book and its been a few years. Good omens is the last book I finished.

Tagging @saecookie @emodestielshipper @its-all-ineffable @ineffable-yikes @ineffable221 @randomcharlie05  If you want to. Any one else can join if they want as well.

Thanks for the tag @crazyrose912!

Childhood books: Sooooo many! The Twilight Books, I guess. I know, I know, but I read, like, nothing else for a year, and I loved ‘em so much! They’re not amazing by any means, but they’re a pretty decent read and pretty good books tbh. They’re not the movies, guys.

Reading List: Many on this too. At the moment, Harry Potter & The Goblet of Fire (it’s my first time ever reading the series okay, but I don’t agree with J.K guys, at ALL).

Most recently read: Chain of Gold by @cassandraclare, it was AMAZING! Also, reading Ghosts of the Shadow Market by Cassie too, properly this time. All of it.

Calling all Brooklyn Nine-Nine fic writers:

In light of events surrounding the unlawful murders of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor and Ahmoud Arbery and Trayvon Martin and Eric Garner and David McActee and countless other unarmed, innocent black people by police in America and around the world, we feel it is important to address the part we have to play in the situation.

  • Firstly and most importantly, we recognise that by writing about these characters we contribute towards the pro-cop narrative that causes people to say things like “Jake Peralta would never do this!” and “not all cops are bad!” We sincerely and deeply apologise for this.
  • Secondly, we feel it would be ignorant, disrespectful and wrong to continue to publish fics featuring police officers at this time and agree to suspend works on this subject matter until tensions have eased. And even then, we agree to carefully consider what we are writing and the ramifications our work may have on young, influential people.
  • Finally, we would like to remind readers that all past and future fics are exactly that: works of fiction. They do not represent our opinions of real life police officers and the systematic racism towards black people within the police system.

Our aim is not to discourage you from reading what we have previously written or will write in the future, nor to discourage you from watching the show that we all love, if they bring you comfort and joy during these difficult times. We are simply using the platforms we have to highlight the issues within our writing in order to grow and learn and be better.

Click the link here to sign (will publish the full thing on here once everyone who wants to has signed the statement). We are also of course completely open to discussion and advice on how to improve this statement, so we can all, as a community, move forward.

Why I think Ty Lee is descendant from airbenders

When I first saw Ty Lee’s character design, I was immediately struck by how… not fire nation she looked. Something about her design just seemed different. After a few episodes, it struck me what it was.

She looks more like an airbender.

image

Most notabe is her airbender eye color, which we only see with Aang and others airbenders in the show. she also has the softer, round face face sbape often seen with Airbenders such as Aang and Jinora. Though this isn’t an 100% pattern (not all airbenders have this face shape and some who aren’t airbenders do), I still think it is a worthwhile point to note.

What I find so interesting though is that Ty Lee’s skill set is directly tied to air. She’s learned to balance and fly through the hair, laughing at gravity (as Aang jokes). Her belief in auras and listening to the universe also implies a heavy spirituality which we see throughout air nomad culture.

image
image

She also looks suspiciously like Jinora and I am convinced she is their grandmother on their mother’s side but I disgress.

image
image

Long story short, I am fairly certain Ty Lee is connected to, or descended from, airbenders.
